The FCA Quality organization is currently seeking a solutions-oriented Quality Reliability Engineer (Emissions and Aftertreatment Systems) to join the Quality team at the Chrysler Headquarters and Tech Center in Auburn Hills, MI. The Quality Reliability Engineer will be instrumental in improving FCA's powertrain quality, reliability and customer satisfaction in respect to Full Useful Life Exhaust Emission Performance as well as diesel and gas particulate filter systems.

Specific Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the Full Useful Life exhaust emissions performance reliability test process for Quality
  • Develop and implement techniques for effective testing and sample size selection
  • Implement statistical methods to analyze emission testing results
  • Perform statistical analysis for warranty prediction
  • Approve reliability fleet emission test results based on regulation standards
  • Develop and implement validation test schedules for emissions Full Useful Life and aftertreatment systems
  • Own the standardization and documentation of reliability testing procedures
  • Implement proactive reliability tools and simulation to prevent and evaluate failure modes
  • Lead the global harmonization of reliability Key Performance Indicators in respect to Emissions and Aftertreatment Systems
  • Lead and coach DFMEAs and DVP&Rs

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, reliability, or statistics, from an ABET accredited college or university (other 4-year engineering degrees in combination with relevant experience may be considered)
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in the practical application of product, quality, or reliability methodologies
  • Basic understanding of the automotive industry and the various systems that are part of modern automobiles
  • Basic computing skills covering standard office software
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presenting complex material to various types of audiences
  • Knowledge in Full Useful Life Emissions performance testing and/or systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher in engineering, reliability, statistics, mathematics or related field
  • Certified Reliability Engineer
  • Design for Six Sigma or Robust Engineering certification (Black Belt, Green Belt)
  • Familiarity with quality measurement methodology, warranty analysis, and third party metrics (Consumer Reports, J.D. Power)
  • Experience in product quality and reliability engineering
  • Experience working with or leading diverse teams (e.g. global, cross-functional, etc.)
  • Experience working with powertrain hardware, calibration and OBD
  • Knowledge of using any statistical software package (MINITAB, SAS, R, Weibull++, etc.)
