Powertrain Analysis and Synthesis Lead Engineer Job, Auburn Hills, MI

The Powertrain Analysis and Synthesis Lead Engineer will be responsible for leading the analysis of fuel economy, acceleration performance, capability (e.g. trailer tow) and certain aspects of drivability for new vehicles and electrified powertrains based on computer modeling techniques and test data evaluation. Using these techniques, the lead engineer will manage the development of functional objective targets and track status against these targets for specific FCA products. The Lead Engineer will create communicate simulation results in oral presentations and written reports to senior leadership. In addition, the successful candidate will work with vehicle engineering management, powertrain engineering management, and planning to establish and achieve functional targets that meet competitive needs. The Lead Engineer will be responsible for coordinating analysis and testing activities.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Industrial, or Computer Engineering, or related Engineering field from an ABET accredited university
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering and product development experience
  • Good Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Good communication and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong Matlab and data analysis skills
  • Familiarity with EPA fuel economy regulations and procedures
  • Experience modeling of electrified powertrain components and/or systems
  • Experience creating virtual models and correlate to real world results
  • Knowledge of advanced powertrain technology
  • Experience with gas and diesel engine technology
  • Experience with hybrid technology
  • Capable of quickly managing/processing large amounts of data
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Previous experience leading projects
