EE Packaging Engineer - Wiring Job, Auburn Hills, MI

The Advance Design Integrity Engineer is responsible for designing and developing new vehicles which meet future regulatory requirements and customer competitive requirements. This group is responsible for vehicle wiring packaging, populating wire harness and EE Bill of Material (CDL) on pre-production tree. The candidate will work with Advance Concept (ACE) & Knowledge Base Engineering (KBE) to achieve release readiness for STEP A, B, and C for EE Systems & Components, and wiring. In addition, the candidate is responsible to identify and resolve packaging and design release issues. The Engineer will lead and/or assist EE S&C in cross functional team meetings, design reviews, working with S&C, Advance Manufacturing, Service, ACE, and KBE to ensure the solutions are optimized for all stages. The candidate's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, establishing physical and functional integration of vehicles and systems during the program planning phase (concept to program approval), translating strategic and functional objectives into technical requirements, creating and analyzing alternative design concepts, packaging and integrating wiring, systems and components and benchmarking of competitive vehicles.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Materials /Chemical/ Civil/ Aerospace/Computer) from an ABET accredited university
  • A minimum of 6 years of related engineering experience with at least 4 years of automotive industry experience in automotive wiring
  • CAD systems knowledge (NX), with ability to position and manipulate models, cut sections, dimension, and conceptualize designs
  • TeamCenter experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Broad vehicle knowledge
  • Ability to integrate stakeholder requirements into final vehicle design
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent relationship building skills
  • Ability to productively manage change
  • Ability to present ideas and concepts successfully to all levels of management
  • Excellent MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
