The Durability/Loads Analysis Manager will manage a team of Loads Analysis engineers responsible for providing durability loads to the engineering groups for analysis, testing and design.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage resources, timing and prioritization for all vehicle loads projects to ensure on-time delivery
  • Manage a diverse group of 23 Engineers, with 1 Technical Specialist, across several locations (US, Mexico, Canada and India) - includes managing/addressing HR-related issues, performance/leadership behaviors, career development and coaching
  • Maintain and leverage relationship with Dynamics team to ensure early suspension hard-point development accounts for durability needs (loads management/distribution)
  • Lead discussions with program teams in determining proper loads needed for all projects and make final decision on desired data - responsible for reviewing and approving all loads analysis technical reports
  • Maintain integrity of and provide oversight to RLDMS (Road Load Data Management System) to ensure customers are accessing appropriate data
  • Provide technical expertise for durability loads by guiding program teams to utilize the appropriate analytical and/or experimental tools to support vehicle durability development
  • Support key global regions (APAC, EMEA and LATAM) to ensure read-across of new technologies, best practices and methods
  • Lead the development of new/improved virtual analysis tools for durability loads
  • Member of the Durability and Reliability Center of Competence (CoC) - work jointly with CoC members to improve correlation between virtual and physical data acquisitions
  • Champion activity board effort (derivative of WCM) to ensure operational efficiency through best practices, training and continuous improvement

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 10 years of automotive (or similar) experience
  • 5 years of supervisory experience
  • Good overall vehicle knowledge
  • Chassis (suspension and mounting) and vehicle dynamics knowledge
  • Strong communication skills -- written and verbal
  • Problem Identification/resolution/validation skills
  • Good people, supervisory and negotiating skills
  • Project management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to assess cost/benefit/risk

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Durability testing and/or chassis/suspension/powertrain development experience
  • Correlation of virtual load acquisition to measured road load data
  • Durability load acquisition and/or PG test schedule development experience
  • Experience using ADAMS software in model development
  • Stress/strain and fatigue/damage theory
  • Driveline systems knowledge
  • Multi-body dynamics and application to acquire virtual road load data
  • Product development process as it relates to durability
  • Familiar with nCode, RLDMS and virtual simulation tools
