Driver Assistance System Functional Safety and Security Engineer Job, Auburn Hills, MI

The Driver Assistance System Safety Engineer will be involved with the development of the future semi and fully autonomous driver assistance systems and enablers, this may also include enhancements to existing driving assistance systems such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keep Assist and Blind Spot Monitor or future electrical architecture changes to support such systems. Some of the activities the Engineer will be involved with are identifying the Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL) via hazard analysis, developing safety plans, safety cases, and other ISO 26262 work products. The Engineer will develop fault tree analysis, common cause analysis, and other functional safety related analyses. In addition, the Engineer will interface with other vehicle teams and suppliers. The candidate must have the desire to learn new processes and technologies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Materials /Chemical/ Civil/ Aerospace/Computer) from an ABET accredited university
  • Minimum 10 years of related engineering experience
  • Minimum 3 years within the area of functional safety
  • Proven ability to apply the V-model development process
  • Proven competency in Systems Engineering - Active Controls, Communications Protocols
  • Proven competency in Functional Safety and System Safety
  • Knowledgeable in Cybersecurity
  • Trained in both DVP&R and DFMEA creation and execution
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Trained and certified in ISO26262
