The 4 Wheel Drive and Driveline Product Engineer will be responsible for the design, development and testing for 4WD and driveline systems and components which may include transfer cases, PTU's, RDM's, prop shafts, half shafts, device controls and driveline adaptation components. The specific responsibilities include benchmarking, data acquisition, performance specification, software calibration and system validation. The Engineers extended responsibilities include team leadership, vehicle adaptation, system development, software controls, support the analysis and resolution of warranty claims, and implementation of cost reduction initiatives and product launch support.

The Engineer will communicate 4WD systems and driveline engineering requirements to Program Management, Vehicle Integration, Procurement & Supply, Supplier Quality, and other associated engineering organizations. He/she will define and develop customer functional objectives and prepare formal documentation as required by each program to include source packages, DVP&R's, PAP's, LRP's, and related program management documents. The candidate will lead simultaneous engineering activities with the supplier and affected vehicle engineering teams for all major programs and lead and participate in FMEA activities both in-house and at the suppliers.

The Driveline Product Engineer will define component and vehicle system interfaces and participate in design and process reviews with the supplier and review design engineering calculations. The candidate will coordinate and assist in the development of validation plans with the supplier and internal reliability organizations and participate in warranty reviews. He/she will support resolution of product quality issues and assist in the analysis and resolution of NVH related issues and manage product changes as required to support product improvement and cost reduction initiatives. The engineer will maintain EBOM as well as support system calibration road trips and special event vehicle testing.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering will also be considered with relevant experience
  • Previous FMEA and DVP&R experience
  • Knowledge with GD&T
  • Proficient use of MS Office

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five years' experience with driveline components and controls
  • Experience with Vector CANape/CANalyzer, DFSS, DOE and Function Model
