The Development Lead (DL) for Interior Lighting provides technical leadership to a team of engineers within the Systems & Components Engineering organization through the application of core engineering tools required to insure robust system designs that will flawlessly support a wide variety of system level performance objectives. The DL is responsible for Technical lead of all the Electro Mechanical components: interior lighting control module, overhead consoles, vacuum cleaners, seat massage modules, RGB light engines, interior lightings, and cooled bins with embedded software control strategies. This includes Electrical Engineering department interface requirements, Interior interface requirements, customer interface (HMI) requirements, development of function models, standardization, innovation, mass efficiencies, virtual and physical validations (DFMEA / DVP&R), design practices, lesson's learned and quality improvement activities, cost value analysis, and the supplier development and selection process . The selected candidate will lead the design and module release activities for the team to meet program timing and deliverables for multiple vehicle programs. The DL will also promote global excellence in engineering through standardized designs, harmonized specifications, and institutionalized learning. Additionally the DL supports the Design Responsible Manager in assessing and developing the competency and leadership development of the organization.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • A minimum of 10 years of product development and leadership experience in automotive industry, experience including 5 years in interior lighting and electrical modules
  • Substantial knowledge in DFMEA/PFMEA, DVP&R, DP's, CAE, GD&T, EE I-Speed and device transmittals
  • Strong knowledge of injection molding, stamping, and material properties
  • Strong background in product design, analysis and development
  • Experience with Shainin Red X and Kepner-Tregoe Reactive Problem solving tools
  • Experience with Design for Sigma (DFSS) using proactive quality tools
  • Result-oriented, energetic self-starting leader with ability to direct cross-functional teams
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering, and or MBA from an ABET accredited university
  • Experience in design and development with release activities in Electrical, Wiring, and Interior/Exterior lighting and Electrical modules
  • Working knowledge of SPEOS Lighting simulation software by OPTIS
  • Knowledge of interior lighting and electrical module software development and validation
  • Knowledge of NX, Teamcenter, and FCA business system
  • Knowledge of CAN, LIN bus communications with circuit analysis
  • Experience in manufacturing process
