The Development Lead - Knowledge Based Engineer (KBE) - Fascia, Grille, Spoiler, Claddings, Trim responsibilities include leading a team of 10-15 KBE Engineers that create Catia V5 and NX parametric math models for Exterior commodities (Fascia, Grille, Spoiler, Claddings, Trim) using Knowledge Based Engineering template modeling techniques. Position requires extensive knowledge of NX and Catia modeling (5 + years using advanced functions), experience with injection molding of large plastic components, experience with large injection molded assemblies, extensive background developing / packaging / synthesizing complex vehicle Exterior Systems. Additional responsibilities include dictating architecture and construction techniques, creating master development / packaging / requirement sections, defining master template modeling structures, and training other NX/Catia engineers on modeling techniques, architecture. The Development Lead will set deliverables as well as track and ensure they are met. He/she will uphold and improve the development process partnering with other Engineering BICEEP areas, FCA Product Design Office, Tooling Acquisition Group and external suppliers. The Lead will be responsible to lead and provide direct design (component/assembly/system) input, release and validate exterior trim components from Product Design inception through launch. The Development Lead must be an energetic team leader that proposes feasible solutions and leads the team through the product development process.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in product development in body components
  • Minimum of 3 years' functional experience using NX or Catia

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in plastics, plating, painting, injection molding
  • Strong history of geometry creation and product development (CatiaV5/6 or NX)
  • Previous new model launch and plant experience
  • OEM / Supplier / FCA Design and Development experience of Exterior Trim commodities
  • Extensive knowledge of TeamCenter and FCA business systems
  • Experience in utilizing DFMEA, DVP&R, and validation plans
  • Green/Black Belt problem solving and Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) experience
