Design and Release Engineer - High Voltage Battery System Job, Auburn Hills, MI

The Design and Release Engineer is responsible for designing and developing battery hardware systems for PHEV, HEV, BEV, and mild Hybrid equipped passenger cars/trucks. She/he will be responsible for all design release/change management activity, mechanical/thermal system validation, packaging integration, and supplier interface. The Engineer will design, develop and production release efficient/cost effective battery systems, including the definition and execution of all development/validation testing to ensure achievement of all functional objectives and adherence to program goals. The successful candidate will lead cross-functional product development teams to ensure timely deliverables from supply base, vehicle teams, and software development team members. She/he will be the point contact for vehicles and lead the packaging/hardware integration activities with the respective vehicle teams, supplier, and vehicle manufacturing locations. The Engineer will initiate ED&D/production source packages, and co-lead the technical supplier selection activity. Other responsibilities will also include creating and/or modifying documentation for processes/best practices, provide support as necessary for pilot, pre-production and production vehicle launch.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering
  • Experience with automotive OEM systems, including all relevant releasing functions
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience
  • DVP&R and DFMEA experience
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Highly motivated and self-starter
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment including leading cross functional teams
  • Demonstrated communication and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Green Belt Certified
