The Design and Release Engineer for Body Power Hardware will be responsible for working with a cross functional team to design, develop, validate, and release power lift gate mechanisms for FCA vehicles. This area is an interesting mix of both mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines. Responsibilities will include writing source packages, specifications, component requirements, change notices, component/system testing, issue root cause and overall supplier management to meet program timing and deliverables. The engineer will follow, track and root cause build issues found during pre-production vehicle builds and also be responsible for issue resolution prior to launch of the program.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace/Aeronautical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) from an ABET accredited university
  • Minimum of ten years of design/release experience in body hardware/ automotive components

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Experience with mechanisms, body hardware, or power lift gate drive units
  • Experience with NX and Teamcenter experience
  • Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS)
  • Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
  • Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R)
  • Knowledge of Shainin Red X or other reactive quality tools
  • Automotive assembly plant and/or program launch experience
  • Self-starter and motivated to produce results
  • Excellent program management, communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
