Design and Release Engineer - Advanced Driver Assist Job, Auburn Hills, MI

The Design and Release Engineer for Advanced Driver Assist is responsible for leading the ECU and sensor electrical design, packaging, development and release of driver assist components. The Driver Assist components include DASM, HaLF, PTS, LBSS/RBSS, RVC & CVPM modules. The Engineer will lead diagnostic, hardware and software development to meet system and vehicle functional objectives, lead system integration (packaging) by attending all pertinent packaging/chunk meetings, and provide validated components for testing on the Plywood Buck and System Bench. The Engineer will also coordinate with vehicle teams and suppliers to ensure proper CAN communication and functionality for various vehicle build phases, ensure proper electrical and EMC testing is conducted on the ECU and sensors, and conduct design reviews for the ECU hardware and software. The Engineer will also provide support to the wiring team by creating and maintaining electrical interface information within the FCA iSpeed system. Management of electrical lessons learned component DVP&R and component FMEA is also required. The role will provide support to manufacturing by developing process standards for in plant testing at vehicle assembly plants and support of service by developing diagnostic analysis and repair techniques.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Materials /Chemical/ Civil/ Aerospace/Computer) from an ABET accredited university
  • A minimum 8 years related engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) from an ABET accredited university
  • Experience in FCA production release and CAD systems such as EBOM, CODEP, CN, IAA, Source Package, Teamcenter and NX
  • Experience or background in automotive electrical systems
  • Demonstrated detailed problem-solving skills
  • Experience using CAN tools such as CANalyzer
  • DFSS Green or Black Belt
