The Design Responsible (DR) - Seat Complete will be responsible to lead a team of engineers in design, development, synthesis, and release of complete seat system for multiple programs. The Design Responsible will work with Tier I suppliers, Product Design Office (PDO), Advanced Concepts Engineering (ACE), and other engineering groups to develop designs including solving packaging, feasibility, and timing issues. The DR will also work with ACE to assure packaging and vehicle architecture support robust seat designs, meet design release milestone/program timing dates with robust design. The selected candidate will support program launch and problem solving activities including in-plant build support; assure designs are robust for manufacturability via direct interaction with Tier 1 and revise designs to assure components can be manufactured to required tolerances, cost targets, and specified quality requirements; develop and maintain design best practice including documentation; assure feed forward and read across of best practice for seat complete assemblies, seat components and seat comfort/craftsmanship; and utilize/implement DFSS tools and methods in the design process.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university (or equivalent)
  • A minimum of 10 years of automotive product design, development and release engineering experience
  • A minimum of 7 years of Seats/Interior automotive product design, development and release engineering experience
  • Understanding of Catia, NX, Teamcenter, design of plastic injection molded parts, injection mold tooling, vehicle packaging, PDO design synthesis process, and the PDO surface development process

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university (or equivalent)
  • DFSS Green Belt
  • Previous launch / plant / manufacturing experience
