Design Release Engineer - Wireless Transmitters Job, Auburn Hills, MI

The Design Release Engineer (Wireless Transmitters) is for a DRE to release RKE Key Fobs. The DRE is responsible for the development of all areas related to Key Fobs and the responsibilities will include the direction of the supplier in developing, testing and releasing hardware and software. The Engineer will be responsible for meeting all vehicle program milestones and conducting all releasing processes, and is expected to coordinate testing activities and communicate results between the supplier and FCA Engineering groups. The job requires frequent interfacing with tier suppliers to track program timing and deliverables and will be involved in resolving component software and hardware issues with the supplier and supporting manufacturing plants builds as well as component and vehicle level testing.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Materials /Chemical/ Civil/ Aerospace/Computer) from an ABET accredited university
  • Any experience levels considered including entry level
  • Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter, highly motivated, work autonomously and in team environment
  • Ability to debug system issues, read EE schematics and block diagrams
  • Prior experience in automotive electrical component releasing and/or validation experience
  • Knowledge of CAN communications and the tools used to capture and analyze data
  • Experience with automotive product development processes and deliverables such as Technical
  • Specifications, DFMEA, Service manuals, owner's manuals, diagnostics trouble codes, DVP&R, PSO, and PPAP
  • Exposure to encrypted communications for security

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Certified or trained in reactive problem solving techniques such as: Kepner-Tregoe, Shainin, or fault tree analysis
  • Certified or trained in proactive quality techniques such as Design for Six Sigma (DFSS)
  • Ability to read requirements and then create a Design Validation Plan (DVP)
