Design Release Engineer -- RF Hub Job, Auburn Hills, MI

The Design Release Engineer -- RF Hub Engineer is responsible for the development of the RF Hub. The job responsibilities will include directing the supplier in developing, testing and releasing hardware and software. The Engineer will be responsible for meeting all vehicle program milestones and conducting all releasing processes. The Engineer will coordinate testing activities and communicate results between the supplier and FCA Engineering groups. The position requires frequent interfacing with tier suppliers to track program timing and deliverables and will be involved in resolving component software and hardware issues with the supplier, supporting manufacturing plants builds. Component and vehicle level testing will be required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Materials /Chemical/ Civil/ Aerospace/Computer) from an ABET accredited university
  • 6 or more months of experience
  • The candidate must be a self-starter and highly motivated
  • Ability to work autonomously and in team environment
  • Ability to debug system issues
  • Ability to read EE schematics and block diagrams
  • Ability to handle pressure and resolve conflicts
  • Prior component releasing experience
  • Validation experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • Knowledge of CAN communications and the tools used to capture and analyze data
  • Some experience with automotive product development processes and deliverables such as technical specifications, DFMEA, service manuals, owner's manuals, diagnostics trouble codes, DVP&R, PSO, and PPAP
  • Certified or trained in reactive problem solving techniques such as: Kepner-Tregoe, Shainin, or fault tree analysis
  • Certified or trained in proactive quality techniques such as Design for Six Sigma (DFSS)
  • Ability to read requirements and then create a Design Validation Plan (DVP)
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Willing to tackle tough problems and solve them
  • Some exposure to encrypted communications for security
