The PHEV Refrigerant System and Electric Compressor Design Release Engineer are responsible for designing and releasing refrigerant systems including: battery chiller systems, electronic TXVs and solenoid valve, high voltage electric air conditioning compressors for FCA Plug in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) and Electric Vehicle (EV) applications. The Engineer will work with ePowertrain, vehicle electronics, and suppliers to develop robust component technical specifications, interface control (ICD), DVPR, and DFEMA documents. The selected candidate will work with on-site designers, attend packaging meetings, provide launch support at the assembly plant, and coordinate with suppliers in the design, validation and launch of refrigerant components and electric compressors. The PHEV Refrigerant System and Electric Compressor Engineer shall be responsible for device communication, software integration, change management, EBOM, cost and mass imperatives. Manage and support DV/PV testing with suppliers to meet program timing. Determine root cause of issues using Design for Six Sigma and write appropriate change notices. Travel as required to assembly plants and suppliers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Software or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university (or equivalent)
  • 5 years of automotive product design and development engineering experience
  • 3 years of experience in PHEV Refrigerant System design, development, and integration
  • Experience with Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)
  • Experience with Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R)
  • Self-starter and motivated to produce results and stay on schedule
  • Demonstrated communication skills across work teams
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient with CAN FD, CANOE, CANAPE, Auto SAR
  • Experience with embedded microelectronics and security protocols
  • Familiar with OBDII and diagnostics
  • Working knowledge of MAT LAB and SIMULINC
  • Subject matter expert in design, development and software integration of PHEV Refrigerant Systems and Electric Compressors
  • Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS)
  • Experience with root cause analysis
  • Experience with NX and TeamCenter
