Design Integrity Responsible Engineer - Cooling Job, Auburn Hills, MI

The Integrity Responsible (IR) Engineer is responsible for leading and coordinating design integrity assignments for Engine Cooling Systems. The IR Engineer uses TeamCenter / NX tools to interrogate geometry, assure homologation compliance and adherence to design best practices, and ensure designs are efficient to meet cost, weight and quality requirements. The Integrity Responsible Engineer collaborates with product engineers on the synthesis of Engine Cooling Systems components with interfacing parts and provides solutions to address design and packaging issues. The Integrity Responsible engineer will work with the program team to assure all corporate design release milestones are successfully met per established glide paths as well as provide a clear line of communication to engineering management at regular intervals on program status.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university (or equivalent)
  • Eight years of experience of automotive Product Design and Development engineering
  • Two years of experience in automotive Engine Cooling Systems Design and Development engineering
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively operate both independently and as part of a team
  • Microsoft Office skills; Word, Excel, PowerPoint

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Self-starter with strong leadership, communication skills and demonstrated problem solving ability
  • Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Green / Black Belt certification, preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of Engine Cooling Systems, engineering and manufacturing processes
  • Familiar with industry best-practices for Engine Cooling Systems, including Functional Objectives and Customer Perceived Quality
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in SIEMENS NX in a production release environment
  • Working knowledge of Siemens TeamCenter PLM system
