The Application Architect Design Lead is responsible for supervising and leading the Application and SDP Vehicle Architecture team to provide requirements and designs for all vehicle applications and connectivity services working with the various internal/external suppliers/groups to get their specifications. The selected candidate will lead the Application and Vehicle Architecture team, oversee the development and approve definition, requirement and design gate of new products and procedures to ensure all projects are delivered on time with a high level of quality. Definition gate documents include: Customer Experience (CX) document, Feature/Service Pattern Map, Vehicle Integration (VI) Customer Functional Objectives (CFO), Project Tailoring Document, Baseline Project Plan, Requirements/Design Gate documents include, System Functional Spec. (SFS) (includes copy/templates), HMI - Logic and Flow, Graphics, Component Functional Technical Spec. (CFTS) Vehicle Functions (VF), CAN DBC files, Head Unit API Spec, App Functional Specification (AFS), BRD - Business Requirements Doc. (ICT) "Uconnect Style Guide (brand book)", "Mopar Style Guide (web)", Security Spec, Architecture Matrix, System Requirements Spec. (SRS), Protocol Spec, Application Requirement and Specification (ARS), User Stories (to replace the RS as part of agile methodology), DFMEA, Initial Test Cases, and change requests to update these documents. The Lead will be responsible for planning and organizing of resources required to complete project timelines. Review, approve or modify definition, requirements and design gate artifacts. Coordinate activates of group with other departments or organizations. The Application Architect Design Lead must be able to communicate departmental status to management, which would include project status, staffing concerns and/or personnel issues. Identifying, quoting and supplier selection for project needed to improve processes and tools. He/she manages the Application Architect and SDP Vehicle Architecture team to recruit and select candidates to join the team including: interviewing and hiring, time card approval, project reviews, requirements and design document reviews, assigning tasks, new projects, providing training, PLM reviews and goal setting.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in EE, CS or Information Technology degree or equivalent
  • 10 Years of automotive electrical and/or connectivity experience
  • 5 years in automotive electrical development and design
  • 5 years in telematics connectivity
  • 2 years leading teams in developing large system solutions for automotive connectivity solutions
  • Strong leadership, management and technical skills to manage the team of application DRE
  • Vehicle and connectivity architectural skills
  • Ability to review design and ensure they meeting best practices
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize projects and tasks
  • Interviewing skills
  • Ability to write project statement of work and analyze quote responses for source selection
  • Proficient in MS Office applications
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to discern what issues need management escalation and when

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Electrical, Computer, Information Technology or equivalent
  • Java, Android or other architecture knowledge to advise future direction
