The Chassis Systems Cost Engineer is responsible for component cost throughout program life for assigned commodities (setting piece cost and investment targets, negotiation support for new business placement and design changes). Working from BOM, drawings and/or samples the individual must be able to develop technical cost and investment/tooling models for chassis components and systems using activity based costing methodologies. The selected candidate provides subject matter expertise to support engineering and purchasing at working levels and to executive leadership. The Cost Engineer must be curious, persistent and innovative. The selected candidate must be able to analyze supplier quotes and reach agreement on appropriate piece cost and tooling cost using activity based costing. The selected candidate must understand of elements of piece cost and investment for various manufacturing processing typical for the production of assigned commodities. The selected candidate must work with the Chassis Tooling/Process Cost Engineer. The Chassis Tooling/Process Cost Engineer is responsible for approval of tooling in Chrysler system and asset verification of tooling after tooling has been built.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree or other college-level education with relevant experience may be considered or 20+ years tooling experience with apprenticeship/journeyman card
  • 3 years of experience with stamping die design, process and strip layouts
  • 3 years of experience with activity based costing and/or quoting experience
  • MS Office and SharePoint proficient
  • Available for occasional day trips with possible overnight travel are required, potential international travel
  • Proficient in Teamcenter
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Solid leadership, interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Business or Engineering or MBA
  • Understanding of production implementation and processes for progressive dies
  • Tandem and transfer die experience
