The Mopar Chassis Advanced Service Development Lead will proactively participate in the Product Development process providing the "Voice of the Service Customer" and the "Voice of the Technician" during the development and over the life of the vehicle to ensure optimal service strategy and maintainability.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Review Chassis component and system designs to ensure compliance of all applicable Service Functional Objectives and report out in IAFOST
  • The highest priority designs to review and assess include;
  • Components/systems that are associated with the SDFOs (Service Design Functional Objectives)
    • Maintenance components/systems
    • Reduce warranty for components/systems with historically higher failure rates, >.1 c/1000
    • Reduce repair costs for components/systems that are > $200 and components with higher costs than the competitive set
    • To improve his/her ability to make an efficient repair without risk of injury
    • New technology components/systems
  • Reduce Chassis part complexity using data to identify parts/systems that can be used to reduce warehouse inventory
  • Identify and influence Chassis design changes through business case analysis related to repair cost efficiencies, TeamCenter review and path planning studies
  • Interface with Chassis Engineering and Program Management on service design issues
  • Develop, update and communicate Chassis service design objectives and ensure that FCA Group vehicles are compatible with general service industry capabilities
  • Perform Program vehicle serviceability assessments and report out in IAFOST
  • Perform Competitive Vehicle Assessments recording "best" and "worst" practices from a repair efficiency standpoint
  • Recruit and assist in the instruction of the Design for Service Efficiency Training Class
  • Assist Program Leads in the Technical Immersion day and technical information and owner's manual reviews

Basic Qualifications:

  • BSME/BSEE or equivalent degree from an accredited school required
  • 5+ years Previous automotive experience including Engineering, Service and/or Field experience
  • 2+ years of Chassis Engineering, Service or Field experience
  • Technical understanding of repair techniques and industry service practices, including maintenance/service requirements
  • Working knowledge of Engineering and Design process
  • Understands process development, program management and problem solving techniques
  • Must be comfortable presenting to all levels of management
  • Must be self-motivated team player with good interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional communication, presentation and team building skills
  • Strong problem solving, planning and analytical skills.
    Working knowledge of Corporate Desktop Software Applications, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in WIS, EMIS, QTA and QNA warranty systems
  • Must also be familiar with Engineering Digital Tools (TeamCenter) including building models, creating files and importing tools
  • Must be able to work with confidential information
  • Must be able to conduct business in a professional manner
  • Must be self-directed and possess strong interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally
  • Must be willing to maintain a flexible schedule for travel between plants, suppliers and CTC

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science in Automotive technology or equivalent technical degree
