The Brake System Development Engineer is responsible for validation, development and system performance to targets on assigned platforms. The Engineer will be responsible for evaluating brake systems for established targets and co-developing and validating counter measures when necessary to satisfy targets. These targets include performance and NVH aspects. The ideal candidate will have an excellent analytical and practical knowledge of brake system design and operation. He/she must have experience in data reduction and processing and can continuously improve existing specifications and procedures as needed. The Engineer will work in the development of new procedures as needed and will also have a major focus on the product area for continuous improvement of customer satisfaction.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • 5 years of experience in brake engineering
  • 5 years of DFMEA/SFMEA and DVP&R experience, such as write, review, execute a system level DVP for a brake system
  • Knowledge of vehicle level brake system design and validation
  • Knowledge of brake system and performance and sizing modeling/analysis
  • Proven problem solving skillset (Shainin, DFSS, etc.)
  • Experience with technical report writing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Design for Six Sigma certification
  • 5 years of experience in vehicle level brake system design and validation
  • Familiarity in vehicle dynamics
  • Experience in quality/reliability engineering
  • Familiarity with federal /international regulations (FMVSS135, ECE13H, etc.)
  • Familiarity with industry standard vehicle and component level brake system specifications
  • Familiarity with instrumentation and raw data processing
