The Body-in-White Product Standards Engineer is responsible to create and edit product standards for manufacturing. The Standards Engineer will also be required to review vehicle designs early in the development stage to ensure that the standards have not been violated. If a violation is identified, it is the Standards Engineers responsibility, working with other groups, to find a solution. A typical Body-in-White (BIW) review will require the evaluation of 163 areas. This type of product evaluation will occur 5 to 7 times per vehicle, starting prior to concept approval and continuing up to end of the design phase. The Standards Engineer will be required to develop Quadri's for each new product line to identify all parts and assemblies that create the vehicle whether the parts or assemblies are built by outside or inside suppliers. Quadri's are key to establishing available floor space to build a new product. Competitive evaluations of other vehicles are another key responsibility of the Standards Engineer and are accomplished by doing a hands-on evaluation as well as using the A2Mac1 data base. This position requires communication with all disciplines associated with the design and build of the vehicles (Trucks, Cars and Minivans).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 2+ years of Body-in-White (BIW) manufacturing and/or BIW product design experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office PowerPoint, Word and Excel
  • Proficient in TeamCenter
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Product engineering experience
  • Knowledge of NX
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or CatiaV5
  • Ability to meet deadlines and have a "whatever it takes attitude" to complete assignments
