The Body Tolerance Engineer will develop, document and maintain dimensional requirements for details and assemblies which includes datums, tolerances and measurement points. Support step release deadlines. Conduct 1D stack studies to validate tolerances and root cause design issues. Recommend best gauging methods. Root cause gauge and tool repeatability issues. Perform data analysis to resolve build issues. Support plants in root causing dimensional issues. Work with cross-functional team to recommend and evaluate corrective action. Create preliminary GD&T and Part Inspection Standards for Source Packages. Responsibilities will include body, interior and exterior dimensional validation, part validation, root cause analysis, launch support and supplier interface.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • 5 years of dimensional/tolerancing experience
  • Strong understanding of GD&T concepts and documentation
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge in basic statistics and process control
  • Strong communication skills with ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • Familiarity with gaging and measurement tools for root cause analysis
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Strong desire to learn and seek out opportunities to gain experience
  • Create and maintain GD&T micro standards
  • Self-motivated
  • Able to meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Vehicle launch experience
  • Teamcenter release experience
  • proficient with NX, Teamcenter and Teamcenter Visualizer
  • Able to cut sections and analyze CAD data
  • Document GD&T using E-Tool and A-Tool
  • Familiarity with statistical control concepts such as Cp/Cpk, Pp/Ppk
  • Ability to perform 1D stack analysis
