The Toolmaker (Hourly) will work on a three-shift rotation to support manufacturing operations. The Toolmaker (Hourly) will construct, repair and use a variety of checking, welding and assembly fixtures associated with robotic as well as manually applied gauges and fixtures in a fully automated assembly environment (on the production floor as well as in the tool room); work from specifications such as blue prints, sketches developmental prototype and verbal descriptions to develop hand tools and fixtures; operate as well as write CNC programs for computerized numerical control machine tools and all other manually operated associated tool room machine equipment such as boring, milling, lathes and internal/external surface cutter grinders; adjust, maintain, replace and repair components of plant assembly equipment pertaining to the vehicle assembly geometry; complete preventative maintenance activities and restore fixtures in a body in white environment; assist manufacturing engineering to implement and verify implemented corrective actions to ensure proper product conformance on a daily basis; conduct daily reviews of dimensional control data gathered from CMM, R1 gauges, Optical gauges such as Perceptron and Laser Gauges; complete daily reports and communicate to upper management any issues as a result of the analysis along with suggested solutions. The Toolmaker will ensure that all work completed results in the highest quality of product leaving the workstation (piece of equipment/machine).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Certificate of Qualification as a Licensed Toolmaker
  • Certificate of Apprenticeship as a Licensed Toolmaker
  • Demonstrated understanding of machining practices milling, turning and cutting
  • Demonstrated proficiency using precision measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers
  • Eligible to work in Canada

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience as a licensed toolmaker
  • Degree in a technical field
  • OACETT (Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists) certification
  • Previous job experience and/or completion of certified programs in AutoCAD/Siemens-NX capability
  • Demonstrated understanding of sheet metal stamping die process, metal formability and trim/pierce/flange die functionality
  • Demonstrated CNC programming knowledge
  • Demonstrated proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and demonstrated use in preparing management review presentation documentation and customized reports
  • Proven GD&T knowledge pertaining to sheet metal assembly layout and DATUM scheme development
  • World Class Manufacturing or LEAN Manufacturing experience
  • PCDMIS for both CMM and Leica Laser Tracker systems is an asset
  • ATOS Blue light scanning system knowledge would also be an asset
