The Stamping Quality Unit Leader at the Brampton Assembly Plant will be responsible for: managing quality system in Stamping and DDH. This includes creating and updating SWI/SOP for Quality Inspectors and Quality related items in SWI/SOP for Production supervising and directing Quality Inspectors in Stamping, Quality Inspectors in DDHF, and Stamping QVs on panel line.
This will include:

  • Approving hours in CATS shift work, bi-weekly rotation required along with shift follow up on quality issues in the shift
  • Setting up containment and make decision for the quality issues in the shift working with quality inspectors to disposition the parts (Scrap/Rework) for any quality concerns
  • Sending daily shift notes for quality issues in the shift for next shift follow up
  • Reviewing First off performed by quality inspectors in stamping for any quality concerns
  • Signing off for quality concerns
  • Placing parts on HOLD if there is any quality issue found
  • Setting up containment for quality issues at our customer (BIW, Paint, Final Line, CPA)
  • Creating OPL for Quality Issues
  • Training team leaders, production supervisors on OPL
  • Setting clean point and communicate to the customer
  • Supporting daily 5 min meetings with Production for quality section
  • Performing daily audits for compliance escalating the issues as required
  • Performing TWTTP/Herca for any quality issues found internally and at our customer
  • Leading discipline process for quality issues
  • Completing quality Kaizens for the month, same as all salary employees working on advanced QM projects as required
  • Assisting team on fixing the quality issues
  • Auditing the quality inspector work performing LPA audits and maintain LPA schedule for salary and hourly
  • Maintaining LPA audit system
  • Collecting data for Scrap and reprocess for our KPIs
  • Participate is weekly quality meetings
  • Performing root cause analysis with the team for quality issues for Stamping and DDHF
  • Working with die shop and production/maintenance to find the root cause and correct the issues capturing as Kaizen or QEWO
  • Attending daily meetings - shift production meeting, paint metal defect meeting, CFA etc.
  • Initiating QA PDCA, QA Matrix
  • Monitoring progress on QA projects
  • Performing tasks as assigned by Quality Control Manager (QCM)
  • Supporting QCM in quality initiatives for Formability and Dimensional improvements
  • Supporting the management of steel suppliers

Future Roles and Responsibilities may include: Responsible for managing tool makers assigned to quality, this includes toolmakers for Formability and stamping fixture checks and managing additional manpower assigned to quality, company's initiative for quality improvement for the vehicle.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Degree from an accredited university
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
  • Comfortable preparing and presenting to all levels of management
  • Willingness to work extended hours as required
  • A "can-do" attitude while handling multiple assignments simultaneously in a high-pressure environment
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree preferred
  • Advanced degree a plus, willingness to challenge one's self and improve via formal and informal training
  • Knowledge of quality management systems and methods, exposure to high-volume stamping operations
