The Brampton Metrology Engineer is responsible for leading dimensional improvements on vehicle geometry through part, tooling, or design actions. This position will work with Metrology Center/Plant/Validation team members to analyze complex parts and sub-assemblies (sheet metal, exterior and interior) using various measurement systems (example, Meisterbock, quality assurance fixtures, laser trackers, CMMs, In-Line Vision Stations). Responsibilities of the Brampton Metrology Engineer will also include: Performing data analysis, organizing data from multiple sources to identify top issues and potential root causes; working with production personnel and plant quality engineers to recommend and validate proposed solutions; verifying effectiveness of corrective actions implemented through data analysis; proactively monitoring trend charts and working with cross-functional teams to drive variation reduction of critical product and process characteristics; and interacting with suppliers and internal unionized tradesmen, both internal and external, to communicate issues and drive resolution.

The Brampton Metrology Engineer shall be also be responsible for directing toolmaker tradesmen on multiple shifts (2nd or 3rd shift depending on departmental needs).

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with minimum of 10 years work experience
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge in basic statistics and process control required
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work with cross-functional teams
  • Core metrology skills - knowledge of measurement techniques
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and other Microsoft applications
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in an Engineering discipline
  • Experience in using statistical analysis applications
  • Good data analysis skills (e.g. Minitab or equivalent statistical package)
  • Knowledge in advanced statistical concepts
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in PCDMIS and use in metrology application
  • Supervised and directed skilled trades in a unionized environment
